I really mean it this time
So, the Riptide website says The Crimson Outlaw is on pre-sale, whatever that means. But in practice if you buy it now you will be able to download it immediately, plus you’ll get 20% off. Offer only valid until midnight tonight (Sunday.) So if you do want it, and you’d like 20% off, this might be the time to get it 🙂
Apologies for me jumping the gun earlier when it turned out only to be available for reviewers and not general readers.
If anyone’s curious, I decided that the exact shade of crimson I was talking about was Harvard Crimson and not any of the many pinker options it turns out also fall under the ‘crimson’ label 🙂
I LOVE the cover. Billiant.
Thank you! During the cover art process I sent them a lot of stuff by Ivan Bilibin ( like this ) and asked if I could have something like that, and I think they really came up trumps. It looks properly Eastern European and semi-fairy-tale-ish. I feel very lucky indeed.
Preordered it, got it, read it. 🙂 Whoo, a bit sexier than usual. Is that Riptide editing policy? So much I loved about the story.
Absolutely gorgeous cover. I love the Slavic look of the faces
*g* Thank you! Yes, I’m not sure why it’s sexier than normal. I think maybe because I’d just finished writing The Glass Floor which was 150,000 words with no sex at all? It certainly wasn’t Riptide’s doing, because they’d previously taken Blessed Isle which also has no sex. It just arrived that way 😉
Isn’t it just 🙂 They look so high-cheekboned and powerful 😀
Such a lovely, memorable, cover – beautiful colours. Pre-ordered and downloaded! (I love the way Riptide let the pre-orderers download two days early – it’s a clever reward.)
Isn’t it odd how different characters have a different level of libido? My 1920s guys are very skittish and modest and are giving me a lot of trouble, but my 7th century blokes are all “Wahey, brace yerself!” 🙂 In RPGs they call it character bleed.
*G* I’m sure it doesn’t help that Vali is 19 and an entitled little git who’s been raised to think he’s due anything he wants. So he’s very much ‘I’ve only got one thing on my mind and you will provide it to me because I say so!” But honestly I was quite embarrassed during the editing process because I had got out of his headspace since then and it was a bit shocking going back in 😉
@HJ Thank you! I really hope you enjoy it. As usual for me, it’s quite a bit different from the last thing I did. I hope that’s a good thing not a bad one!
I really love the cover. I’ve seen people on Goodreads saying it’s a bit feminine but I don’t think so, unless this is too http://leighgillam.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/bilibin3_saltan.jpg
Alex!!!! 😀
I just finished this and absolutely love everything about it. There will be a review coming out in short order. Congrats on another gem.
And the cover….gorgeous and perfect, I’d love this in print. In fact I’m certain I saw Vali on someone’s tumblr and picked him up…. so to speak 😉

Woohoo! Thank you Dianne, I am glad 😀 And blimey, that does indeed look just like him. How very cool. If I ever write a sequel I’ll know whose photo to paste up on my storyboard 🙂
It’s such a relief that you like it. New releases are always so scary! Also thank you in advance for the review, that’s wonderful 😀
😀 He even has a sword 😉 OMG I almost published my review with Mihai’s name written as Himai…. Yes, I was tired!!
*g* Oh, it’s Mihai with the consonants transposed. I do that a lot when I’m typing fast, but unfortunately not enough to consistently catch it with find and replace.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! And I have to say I have been thinking of sequels, so I’m with you there 😉
