Today is a good day to be me

Because my Advance Review Copies of ‘False Colors’ arrived in the post this morning:

arcs

and they’re just lovely!  Eight copies with gold spines and ‘not for sale’ marked on the bottom on that narrow yellow band.  My daughters have been embarrassed already by the amount of squeeing going on πŸ™‚  Now I just have to decide what to do with them, since Perseus are going to send their own copies out to reviewers.  Would an ARC be a good competition prize, do you think?  It’s not something you would be able to buy in a shop, but on the other hand it’s not quite the finished version either.  *Ponders*.

Also it was a good day because I got a wonderful and totally unexpected review on The Witch’s Boy.

Review of The Witch’s Boy at Manic Readers

The Witch’s Boy is great, though, and I would love to see a sequel to it! Or two, or a whole series of them! The world is beautifully crafted and the characters compelling- it seems a waste not to use them again!”

It was unexpected because I’d completely forgotten that I ever sent it to them πŸ™‚

Also also (too much good news – I’ll pay for it tomorrow) I went to the opticians this morning for an eye test and discovered that my sight has dramatically improved since my last appointment.  As long-sight continues to improve as you get older, eventually I might end up not having to wear glasses at all!  Cool!  It does mean I need to pay for a new, weaker pair in the mean time, mind you.  But hopefully that should mean less headaches, so even that is good news.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I got a wonderful late-Christmas, ‘thank God we survived the anthology’ present which may result in me switching sides and writing about Canadian pirates in future.

Fortunately my husband is off work with the flu, or I would be worrying about tempting fate with too much good fortune at once πŸ™‚  Tomorrow is another and undoubtedly less favoured day, but for today, I squee! πŸ™‚
